Design Style Guidelines

The large acre lot size and unique nature of the land in Avington Park encourages residents to build homes of individuality to match the landscape. We have worked with the top architectural firm of Bloodgood, Sharp and Buster and selected 5 design styles. These illustrations represent one variation of each design style:

Key Components of the Architectural Design Guidelines Ensure that Homes:

  • Blend into the natural landscape
  • Add value to the community
  • Can be modified to reflect each home owner’s individual desires
  • Protect every resident’s investment
  • Built at a minimum of 3000 square feet
  • Achieve Energy Star® rating
  • Comply with WaterStar® guidelines
  • Utilize non-VOC paints

French Eclectic homes are a blending of Provencal & Country French styles that are characterized by steep hipped roofs and multiple roof elements. French Eclectic home styles often have a castle-like feel.

Georgian homes styles are based on English manor designs and feature symmetrical architecture with a grand central front door; often constructed with a brick façade and white columns.

Italianate homes are designed to resemble the grand villas of Northern Italy and are marked by striking cupolas, tiled roofs and tall, narrow, double hung windows.

Mediterranean Revival homes with their Spanish influence, have low-pitched roofs and stucco siding. Many designs have beautiful courtyards, intricately tiled floors and ornately carved elements.

Coastal Variations include Low Country and French Colonial. These 2 styles are defined by wide front porches and have many windows that flood the interior with light.
