Going Green in Avington Park

Avington Park and Heritage Green look to form strategic relationships and partnerships with key groups and individuals who share our commitment to improving the quality of life for all living things. In developing Avington Park, we are following the Florida Green Building Coalition guidelines. The FGBC is a non profit organization dedicated to improving the built environment. Their mission is “to provide a statewide Green Building program with environmental and economic benefits.” You can learn more about the FGBC by clicking here.

As a minimum requirement for green building, all homes built in Avington Park will be required to meet the Energy Star® standard. As you’ll discover, our custom builders build to this requirement as a standard practice. To earn the Energy Star®, a home must meet guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 20–30% more efficient than standard homes. Energy Star qualified homes can include a variety of 'tried-and-true' energy-efficient features:

  • Tight Construction and Ducts
  • Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment
  • Efficient Products

We encourage water efficiency as well, and Avington Park supports achieving Water Star certification. You can read more about Water Star by visiting www.floridawaterstar.com.
