1. Eco-Evaluation
Over a 3 month period, the development team walked every square inch of the property looking for its key features and hidden secrets that had to be preserved. Every tree, hill, animal habitat was identified, the view corridors were assessed. This exercise was done both during the day and at night to ensure that we truly understand how the land and nature lived together. The process gave us an insight into how our community could integrate with respect to the surroundings.

 2. Protecting ‘Green’ Assets
Areas of the property that contributed to the highest environmental value were identified and ‘Green Printed’ to be preserved in their natural state. As part of the process we merged them into an environmental cornerstone that was a part of community. It is our charter to ensure that all of the residents of Avington Park share in and enjoy these environmental jewels.

3. Flow with the Land
The topography of the land has its own story. It is invested in time. Roads in Avington Park were designed to move and flow with the land and its environmental features. We contoured and shaped our roads so that we could take advantage of the unique topography and eco systems while ensuring a safe environment for our residents. The roads are a servant to the land, starting with the entrance through the tree canopy that will invite you to your new home. Arriving at Avington Park will always prompt a feeling of ‘coming home’ as you wend your way along the roads that subtlety bend and shape to the land and its enchanting natural features

4. Creating a Home
Each lot offers its own character, a character sculpted from the land and the way it could offer up some unique element to its future owner. We wanted our owners to be an integral part of this creation. So rather than cut the traditional home site where we nominated it, we made a choice to have the owner of each lot make the final selection of their ultimate home site – to be part of the progression to making their piece of heaven. Only 42 families will be sharing in that experience and can say that they played a part in this visioning process.

5. From Concept to Reality
A visioning process is nothing more than window dressing without a plan to see the dream become a reality. Two years have passed since the first moment we stood on that land. We fought for the preservation of trees, to educating consultants and others to break away from the norm and see the new future. Times have changed; no longer must we tolerate that disrespect for the land and its needs in order to develop homes and properties. Avington Park will be part of the new direction and way others will develop their land. Thank you for being part of this journey
